Stability of hopfions in bulk magnets with competing exchange interactions

چکیده
Magnetic hopfions are string-like three-dimensional topological solitons, characterised by the Hopf invariant. They serve as a fundamental prototype for magnetic quasi-particles and an inspiration novel device concepts in field of spintronics. Based on micromagnetic model without considering temperature, existence such has been predicted certain magnets with competing exchange interactions. However, physical realisation freely moving bulk have so far elusive. Here, we consider effective Heisenberg interactions study stability small toroidal number $Q_\text{H}=1$ finding first-order saddle points energy surface representing transition state decay via formation two coupled Bloch points. We combine geodesic nudged elastic band method adapted implementation dimer to resolve sharp profile reaction path near point. Our analysis reveals that barrier can reach substantial height is largely determined size hopfion relative lattice constant.

Coherent radiation by magnets with exchange interactions
A wide class of materials acquires magnetic properties due to particle interactions through exchange forces. These can be atoms and molecules composing the system itself, as in the case of numerous magnetic substances. Or these could be different defects, as in the case of graphene, graphite, carbon nanotubes, and related materials. The theory is suggested describing fast magnetization reversal...
متن کاملBulk FePt-based nanocomposite magnets with enhanced exchange coupling
High density bulk FePt/Fe3Pt nanocomposite magnets have been prepared by high-pressure warm compaction of chemically synthesized FePt and Fe3O4 nanoparticles. It is found that the density increases with the compaction pressure and temperature. Density of the bulk samples up to 95% theoretical value has been obtained while the nanostructured morphology is retained. It is also observed that a hig...
متن کاملModel colloidal fluid with competing interactions: bulk and interfacial properties.
Using a simple mean field density functional theory (DFT), the authors investigate the structure and phase behavior of a model colloidal fluid composed of particles interacting via a pair potential which has a hard core of diameter sigma, is attractive Yukawa at intermediate separations, and is repulsive Yukawa at large separations. The authors analyze the form of the asymptotic decay of the bu...
متن کاملExplosive shock processing of Pr2Fe14B/ –Fe exchange-coupled nanocomposite bulk magnets
Explosive shock compaction was used to consolidate powders obtained from melt-spun Pr2Fe14B/ –Fe nanocomposite ribbons, to produce fully dense cylindrical compacts of 17–41-mm diameter and 120-mm length. Characterization of the compacts revealed refinement of the nanocomposite structure, with approximately 15 nm uniformly sized grains. The compact produced at a shock pressure of approximately 1...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional fluid with competing interactions exhibiting microphase separation: theory for bulk and interfacial properties.
Colloidal particles that are confined to an interface such as the air-water interface are an example of a two-dimensional fluid. Such dispersions have been observed to spontaneously form cluster and stripe morphologies in certain systems with isotropic pair potentials between the particles, due to the fact that the pair interaction between the colloids has competing attraction and repulsion ove...
